The Montpellier Computer Science, Robotics and Microelectronics Laboratory – LIRMM – is a mixed research unit, jointly dependent on Montpellier University and Scientific Research National Center. Its research activities position the LIRMM at the heart of information, communication and systems sciences and technologies.
The LIRMM robotics department has around thirty permanent staff (researchers, teacher-researchers and engineers) as well as around thirty doctoral and post-doctoral students. In order to design efficient and safe robots, capable of operating in difficult environments or collaborating in direct physical interaction with humans, the teams of the LIRMM robotics department are working on the development and experimental validation of modeling methods, efficient, reliable and robust design, perception and control. The overall objective is to promote the development of fundamental tools and to bring them to valorization and industrial transfer.
This work mainly concerns medical and manipulation robotics (DEXTER team), perception and underwater exploration robotics (EXPLORE and ICAR teams) as well as human-robot physical interaction and humanoid robotics (IDH team). The department thus develops research activities applied in particular to the manufacturing industry, health, the environment and man in his daily environment.
SKILLS :
Medical robotics, parallel robotics, cobotics and human-robot physical interactions, humanoid robotics, underwater robotics, visual data analysis and processing
