L'Toulouse Computer Science Research Institute (IRIT), one of the largest Joint Research Units (UMR 5505) at the national level, is one of the pillars of research in Occitania with its 600 members, permanent and non-permanent, and around a hundred external collaborators. Due to its multi-supervisory nature (CNRS, Toulouse Universities), its scientific impact and its interactions with other fields, the laboratory constitutes one of the structuring forces of the IT landscape and its applications in the digital world, both in regional and national level. Our unit has been able, through its cutting-edge work and its dynamics, to define its identity and acquire indisputable visibility, while positioning itself at the heart of developments in local structures: University of Toulouse, as well as the various systems resulting from future investments (LabEx CIMI, IRT Saint-Exupéry, SAT TTT, etc.).
Our research is structured around five major scientific topics :
- Design and construction of systems (reliable, secure, adaptive, distributed, communicating, dynamic, etc.)
- Digital modeling of the real world
- Concepts for cognition and interaction
- Study of autonomous systems adaptive to their environment
- Transition from raw data to intelligible information
Six strategic application areas materialize our research:
- Health, Autonomy, Well-being
- Smart City
- Aeronautics, Space, Transport
- Digital social media and information dissemination
- e-Education
- Cybersecurity, Security of goods and people
As well as'a strategic action :
- Computing, Data, AI
